Testimonials

  • Our family are regular visitors to Montsapey, with its beautiful church, magnificent views and spectacular walks on Grand Pic de la Lauzière and Grand Arc. The chance to enjoy a nice meal after the walks was something missing in the village, esp. after the Lac Noir became a Chambres d’Hôtes, primarily serving food to their own guests. After some not too inspiring experiences at le Chaudron, we are happy to say that with the new owners Sandrine and Jérémy this has all changed for the better – and this in a spectacular way! Warm and personal welcome and service, excellent recommendations on food and wine. On top, as other guests already notes, a willingness to improvise to cater to special wishes of their clients. In our case the result of such a request was so good, that I am tempted to challenge Jérémy’s talents with full improvisation next time. The menu is varied, the ingredients excellent and fresh and the result excellent, both tast wise and esthetically. A nice mix of Savoyard and other influences. Sandrine also really knows her wine and has prepared a nice choice of very reasonably priced choices. Excellent value for money! We hope to also have a chance to try out some of their specialty evenings with Basque food, etc. Merci et à bientôt!

  • What a wonderfull restaurant “away from it all” and yet so close to the main roads. Great food, a very warm yet professional welcome, an exceptional view, cosy restaurant and last-but-not-least a nice surprise when it comes to paying the bill…. We were more than happy to have dinner here and our only regret is we couldn’t stay in one of their rooms. We just have to come back to experience that too…..and when we do we hope the evening will be a bit warmer se we can enjoy the great terras!

  • An amazing view from the terrace and we promised ourselves that when we returned we would have an evening meal and we were not disappointed. The restaurant has a lovely ambient atmosphere and the service is first class. A lovely welcome from the proprietors Sandrine and Jeremy and everything was explained beautifully, in detail and any questions we had were answered expertly by Sandrine who has excellent English and she gave recommendations for wine and particular dishes on the menu. The menu of the day was wonderful, all local produce and the vegetarian options exceptional. Desserts were delicious.
We had a fabulous evening and felt that we had received such a personal service and would definately recommend to others. It will not be our last visit and hope to return next year.
